After the abolition of 108 posts in the public works department under its downsizing policy, the state government has axed another 935 posts in the schools education department, including three posts of joint directors.
Another 47 posts in the PHED department and 21 posts in the forest and environment department have been abolished.
The secretary, education Shambhu Singh, issued an order today abolishing the 935 posts in the schools education with immediate effect.
All the posts are either lying vacant or not being held on regular basis.
Altogether 2597 posts are proposed to be abolished in the schools education department as per the downsizing policy laid out in the state government�s order of July 11, 2001.The posts axed today in the first phase include three posts of joint director, four posts of deputy inspector of schools, and altogether 928 posts of primary teachers.
In addition, another 47 posts lying vacant or not being held on regular basis in the public health engineering department have also been abolished following an order issued by the additional chief secretary, public health services, Saichhuana yesterday.
The abolished posts include one of superintending engineer, three of executive engineer, two of section officer, one surveyor, 32 technical jugalis and eight khalasis.
A total of 393 posts are earmarked for downsizing in the department.
On the other hand, another 21 posts in the forest and environment department have been abolished as per an order issued by the joint secretary, P Ibopishak on August 18 last.
