Lamka, July 20:
With the indefinite bandh imposed in the entire district crippling normal life for the second consecutive day, Churachandpur District Students Union has declared that the bandh will be relaxed for five hours beginning 5 am tomorrow.
Lallawmpuia, general secretary of the union told this correspondent that the relaxation was effected in order to give the general public a chance to stock their essential supplies.
However, the bandh will be resumed immediately after ten as the state government has still failed to fulfil their demands, he said.
Tyres were burnt at several places as the indefinite bandh entered the second day and a Maruti van bearing registration no.MN01 K 7211 was halted near Torbung Bangla by suspected volunteers who shattered the windshields at around 8 am today.
According to sources, the driver whose name they could not identify even sustained minor injuries during the scuffle that followed.
Volunteers were also seen trying to burn tyres right in front of the police station but timely intervention of the state forces successfully put the situation under control.
Meanwhile, a handful of Meira Paibis and CDSU leaders were seen locked in a verbal duel for sometime at Kangvai village, but was subsequently subsided by the state forces posted in the village.
