Tamenglong, February 14, 2010: Two persons, one surrendered former underground cadre but presently employed as a rifleman of IRB and a father of another surrendered former UG were shot dead by unknown persons in two separate incidents that occurred in the last 24 hours in the state.

The surrendered IRB was shot dead by suspected undergrounds at the kitchen of his house before his mother at Haobam Marak under Singjamei police station of Imphal west district this evening at about 6.50 pm while the father of the surrenderee was killed by miscreants last night at about 8 pm on the road near his home at Shikhong Mamang Leikai under Yairipok police station.

Reports said that two gunmen suspected to be undergrounds shot dead one Pebam Bikramjit alias Laba (28) son of P Nongyai of Haobam Marak Keisham Leikai while he was in the kitchen helping his mother in preparing meal of the night.

The two gunmen entered to the kitchen and asked about his health saying that they got information that he is ill and took out a small gun and shot at him twice.

He died at the spot.

Family said that he was a former UNLF activist surrendered around 10 year back and later joined in the 4th IRB.

His rifleman no.was 405598.He was survived by his wife and two children.

Most of the times he used to stay at the commando complex at North AOC and visited home occasionally.

He came to the house 40 minutes before unfortunate incident occurred at about 6.10 pm.

Family members said that he showed up at about 6.10 pm with the complaint of illness.

Before shooting incident occurred, the two unknown persons asked his home to his aunty who met with them at the gate of the house.

When they asked for Bikram, the two unknowns said that they were coming to ask under health condition.

His aunty pointed out Bikram�s house.

No sooner had they entered the house, they shot at twice at Bikram and left the place hurriedly.

They also fired some rounds of gun in the air when his younger brother Amuba chased after them.

Singjamei retrieved the lifeless body of Bikram and transferred at RIMS morgue necessary official procedures.

On the other hand, unknown suspected underground shot dead another 53 year old person, a government employee last night at about 8 pm at his locality at Shikhong Lamkhai.

The victim identified as one Abdul Salam was a grade-IV employee in the Manipur Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) and father of a PULF activist surrendered to the government authority around four year back.

Reports said that his son, Md Juma Khan, a PULF militant surrendered around four year back.

However, reports could not immediately confirmed whether the killing related with his son�s pass activities.

Police said that the man was strolling along the road at around 8 pm when the incident occurred.

No one has claimed responsibility for the act.
