The valedictory function of the first state level Khadi and Village Industrial exhibition was held today evening at the Mela ground, Imphal.
Dr M Nara Minister Sericulture and Art and Culture was the Chief Guest.
Addressing the gathering Dr Nara said Khadi and village are part of Sericulture.
Khadi is light and comfortable for use.
Sericulture will become the most wanted industry in Manipur, he said.
He expressed his opinion to hold such exhibition every year.
Certificates of appreciation and calendars were distributed to the participants.
The prizes of the state level debating competition held on January 2 were distributed.
The winners were KB Gunarani Devi of Langdum HS, S Binodini Devi second of DM College and L Herojit third prize of Johnstone Higher Secondary School, Imphal.
S Birendro Asst Director state office, Khadi and village Industries Commission, Imphal giving the key note address said Khadi goods worth about Rs one crore were sold during the exhibition.
About 50 stalls were opened in the exhibition.
During the exhibition around three to four thousand people came to see the exhibition everyday.
The average sale proceed was Rs three lakhs every day.
