Imphal, May 27 2021:
The Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts and Culture Society (KIMACS) has urged the State Government to deploy sufficient doctors, nurses and medical equipment at community quarantine centres set up in Assembly Constituencies.
A press release issued by KIMACS said that the absence of sufficient medical practitioners and equipment at quarantine centres is hindering the fight against the Covid pandemic.
Ensuring proper availability of healthcare facilities and medical equipment at quarantine centres is imperative to fight against COVID-19, it opined.
Though the Central Government approved home isolation treatment for Covid patients, the same is not practicle in Manipur as only a few families have facilities such as separate toilets and rooms, said KIMACS and added that treatment at community quarantine centres is more practical in Manipur.
The statement also suggested that additional Government employees could be engaged in the fight against Covid if there is a shortage of manpower.
KIMAC further said that requisite relief packages should be provided to the people to effectively enforce the restrictions.
The society also urged all to refrain from self-administration of medication to avoid serious illness.
