Rs 1.02 lakh collected as fines

The Police Department today collected a total of Rs 1,02,450 from SOPs violators.
Police continued to crack down on those failing to wear mask in public places, failure to maintain social distancing in public places, spitting in public places, etc to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the State.
The sum of Rs 1,02,450 was collected from 319 persons, said a statement issued by the police.
The Police Department warned that those who violate the SOP shall be dealt with strong legal action under National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other appropriate laws.
In total, the Police Department has collected a sum of Rs 1,84,82,310/- (One crore eighty four lakh eighty two thousand three hundred ten only) as of today.
Despite the increase in penalty for SOP violators, the public continues to violate the guidelines.
