A three-day consultative programme on peaceful co-existence among indigenous people of Manipur kick started at GM hall yesterday.
The programme is jointly organised by National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO), Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL) and Ereipak Enat Chanura Loinasillon (EECHAL) .
In his keynote address, NIPCO general secretary Rishikanta Yumnam accused the Government of India of spewing hatred among the people of Manipur who have been living together peacefully and harmoniously since the past many centuries.
He said that Indian army and other security forces have been oppressing and taking lives of many innocent people in the name of counter insurgency operations.
The State, which has written history of 2000 years, has been reeling under different forms of atrocity since the past 66 years after its merger with India, he said.
Rishikanta further said that it is becoming clear day by day that the Government of India spews hatred among the people of different communities of the State.
Saying that the Government whose main function is to protect its people is now busy in earning personal wealth, Rishikanta stressed on the need to tackle the present situation.
AMKIL president Ph Sakhi Leima while speaking at the function said that the rip between hill and valley people is widening day by day after Manipur merged with India.
She called upon the people of Manipur to understand the ploy which has been meticulously planned to annihilate the indigenous people of the State.
