URF bandh hits normal life in parts of Manipur

The 12 hour Manipur bandh imposed by the proscribed United Revolutionary Front (URF) on Saturday from 8 am till 8 pm hit normal life in valley areas of Manipur.
Due to the bandh, shops in Khwairamband bazaar were shut.
Vehicles including transport and inter-state service buses stopped plying on their normal routes.
All educational institutes were totally shut while most of the government offices wore empty looks.
It may be mentioned that the URF had called the bandh against the Manipur Government's initiative on hosting the Sangai Festival 2015 .
Meanwhile, the chairman of the proscribed United Revolutionary Front (URF) has been arrested in Assam's Cachar district on Friday, said a news agency report.
The top leader Gopendra Singh alias Lalheiba was said to be on a mission to disrupt the Sangai Festival 2015 which commenced on Saturday.
Lalheiba, who was wanted by Manipur and Assam police in different cases, was arrested from Kalain near Silchar, said the source.
