Imphal, November 21 2015 :
The Manipur Students' Association Delhi (MSAD) has strongly condemned the manner in which a student from Manipur has been falsely implicated and jailed in Ghaziabad (DelhiNCR) .
In a statement, MSAD said that a student from the State who is pursuing Bachelor of Fine Arts at Institute of Fine Arts (IFA), Modinagar, is languishing in jail for the past eight months.
Two locals who were acquaintances of the victim student persuaded him to accompany them to his institute.
He also accompanied the two without knowing their intention.
Much to his surprise, the two locals vandalized the computer laboratory of the Institute.
The two locals escaped after the guards came in.
However, the guards caught the victim.
Following the revelation of the victim, the Police arrested the duo, but, only to be released after some backdoor negotiations, MSAD said.
The onus of the charges was on the victim, who has been languishing in the jail for the last eight months.
The legal approach to ensure his bail out remains unsuccessful.
quoting family members, MSAD said the lawyer who handles the case merely adds to the burden with frequent charges of lawyer's fee, without sincere efforts to achieve justice for the victim.
All these appear to be victimization through an unholy nexus of the police and the lawyer.
MSAD, therefore, appealed to individuals, civil societies, NGOs and the Government of Manipur, to provide necessary helps to ensure justice for the victim and his family .
