Unknown epidemic kills many cows, buffalos in Tamenglong

In an outrageous incident, at least 25 cows and buffalos have been reportedly killed in Tamenglong district due to unknown diseases in the last few days.
Many cows and buffalos have also severely infected by unknown disease in Pallong village, sonram (Sonpram) village and Phalong (Bhalok) village.
Dirang Gangmei a resident of Phalong village who owned more than 30 cows said that his four cows died in the epidemic recently.
At least 10 cows and buffaloes have died in Phalong village, another eight cows died in Sonram and another seven cows and buffalos died in Pallong village, narrated Dirang.
"The cows and buffalos are not infected on tongue or foot, its known disease.
I am taking these antibiotics to give injection to my cows", Dirang said.
Calling attention of the concerned authority to intervene immediately, Dirang said that cows and buffalos are the treasures of the widows and poor cultivators in the villages.
In the meantime, killing of cows and buffalos for consuming meat has not stopped in the market.
Interestingly, no complaint has been lodged to the district administration by the cow owners till today.
At the same time, the veterinary department Tamenglong is lying in a defunct stage, as all the officials and doctors were out of station.
