AMRPSWA secy assaulted by MSF volunteers

Volunteers of the Manipur Students' Federation (MSF) today assaulted secretary of the All Manipur Recognised Private School Welfare Association (AMRPSWA) for refusing to dissolve an issue related with textbooks scam, alleged Khoinam Japan aka Chingkheinganba, Secretary, AMRPSWA.
Speaking to reporters at the Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul, Japan said that some executive members of the association went to the office of MSF to discuss some issue on April 11 last, around 3 pm.
After reaching there, president of MSF asked them to go back except him.
As soon as the other members left, he was instructed to come into a room which they locked from outside and asked him to sign on a paper declaring dissolution of the association he led.
When he objected , they beat him up with a stick.
He further said that although the exact cause of MSF's demand to dissolve AMRPSWA is not known, introduction of textbooks published by the firms outside the state in some private schools.
Clarifying the fact, he said that the private schools in the state have been prescribing such textbooks since the past many years.
They are only using textbooks which are not found in the syllabus of the Board of Secondary Education Manipur.
There is no prescription for classes Nursery and KG in the BSEM's syllabus.
Moreover there is no prescription of GK, Moral Science, Science, Environmental Science, Computer Science for class 1 to 8 in the syllabus of BSEM.
Presently acute shortage of textbooks recommended by BSEM is facing .
Despite the unavailability of textbooks, private schools in the valley are conducting normal classes with the few textbooks published outside the state.
As demanded by the MSF, the private schools will stop using such textbooks from immediate effect.
However, he said that MSF should bear all the responsibility of any untoward incidents if the BSEM failed to make its textbooks available in the market by April 18 .
