Imphal, April 13 2011:
With Nagaland government returning the MSRTC complex at Dimapur Town Block-III, a team of officials of the Manipur Transport Department led by its director will pay a visit for demarcation of the boundary of the land.
State transport minister, K Ranjit informed that Nagaland government has handed over the 4, 241 acre land at Dimapur Town Block-III in the last week of February.
Documents related with the land including the patta were also provided at the time of handing over the land, he added.
He further said that transport director BB Sharma has been asked to inspect the land so that government could take up necessary work like fencing of the land.
He and his team will leave Imphal for Dimapur on April 15 .
As the land is now owned by the Manipur government, development work will be taken up as soon as possible.
Manipur government is planning to develop the land as a parking for state vehicles plying on NH 39, particularly for freight trucks transporting essential commodities from Dimapur to Imphal, the minister said.
State security will also be stationed at the place, he added.
The MSRTC (Manipur State Road Transport Corporation) complex in Dimapur, mention may be made, was allotted to Manipur government by Nagaland Government for development of a MSRTC complex but since the abolition of the MSRTC in 2003, the land had been encroached by individuals.
Even a church had been constructed there.
The land was allotted to seven private individuals on September 27, 2010 by the authority of the Nagaland government.
The land has been in the name of the MSRTC for a very long time but remained as a barren land in the heart of Dimapur.
Manipur government realized the importance of the land with state vehicles having no secure parking place in Dimapur.
Manipur government had been insisting its Nagaland counterpart to restore the land to the state government for the last one year.
A ministerial team led by the then Transport minister had visited Nagaland in November last year.
Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio had assured the ministerial team that the land would be returned to Manipur.
