Imphal, April 12 2011:
Churachandpur District Students Union (CDSU) has accused 46 AR of battering its volunteers at Koite cemetery, some 2 km away from Ccpur PS.
Speaking to NNN on the phone, president of CDSU, Hahau, alleged that personnel of 46 AR battered 10 volunteers of CDSU black and blue at about 12:15 pm on Monday on the charge of extorting money from vehicles on behalf of UGs .
CDSU has boycotted the ongoing plus two exams of NIOS because the three schools that have been identified as exam centres have been found to be inadequately staffed with little or no infrastructure and other paraphernalia to cater to the exams, also some exam centers were randomly changed .
He stated that a chakka bandh have been imposed on the Tiddim Road section of NH 150 yesterday" .
To enforce the bandh, volunteers of CDSU fanned out across three places along the Tiddim Road to persuade examinees not to sit for the exams, said Hahau.
While the volunteers were at the job in three places between Salbung and Koite villages, patrolling personnel from 46 AR personnel seized them and led them to Koite cemetery where they were thrashed inhumanly, said the president of CDSU.
More than 30 examinees were reportedly intercepted and sent back yesterday after confiscating their admit cards, he said.
The chakka bandh would be intensified tomorrow.
