RIMS Director rushes to Delhi

Prof S Sekharjit, Director of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal left here today for Delhi, informed sources said.
He is scheduled to meet high officials of the Union Health Ministry to discuss the problems faced by the post graduate students in the institute due to shortage of hostel facilities.
Hueiyen Lanpao learns that the Health Ministry had increased the number of post graduate seats in RIMS from 77 to 144.Accommodation is being given in two hostels in the Deluxe special ward, one for ladies and the other for men.
As a result patients find it very hard to get rooms in the special ward.
The PG students of Manipur have to be based in their homes due to shortage of accommodation.
This has hurt their acquiring of professional experience.
Dilapidated hostels were repaired somehow so that the students from other states can stay.
It is learnt the Director will urge for the immediate construction of hostels for the PG students.
The existing hostels are also inundated whenever there are heavy rains.
