Vector borne diseases to be eradicated completely by 2015

An advocacy meeting of the Media Personnel on Prevention and Control of Vector Borne Diseases was held at Manipur Press Club today.
The advocacy meeting which was organized by the Manipur State Vector Borne Disease Control Society was graced by A Mobi, President All Manipur Working Journalist Union (AMWJU), Ch Dhaballo, Coordinator, Manipur State Vector Borne Disease Control Society and A Robindro, Editor, Poknapham daily as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Delivering the key note address, Y Krishna, Entomologist State HQ., NVBDCP, Manipur said that India intends to eradicate all types of Vector Borne Diseases by 2015 .
This can only be made possible only when the disease is detected at an early stage and treatment given accordingly.
He further said that out of 1000 people every 1.32 persons suffer from malaria in India.
The government is trying to reduce this rate.
By 2015 it is believed that malaria will be completely eradicated.
Out of 250 to 1000 people of the state two people are infected with Japanese Encephalitis.
No vaccine is available for its treatment till date.
So the only way to cure it is to prevent it, he warned.
Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, A Mobi said that the central government has sanctioned a huge amount of money to eradicate all types of Vector Borne Disesses.
Media has a big role to play in disseminating all information regarding Vector Borne Disease to the public.
Media persons should be very careful in publishing news related with this issue.
Dr A Ibochouba, State Malaria Officer, NVBDCP, Manipur elaborated on the topic - "NVBDCP: An overview of the State," during the technical session.
