In an angry and violent response to the alleged kidnapping and trafficking of three youths for recruitment in militant outfits, enraged people of Khabam Maning Leikai, Imphal East district destroyed the house of one W Inaocha (50) on Friday and expelled him from the locality.
The angry mob attacked the house after getting information that Inaocha's son W.Puno @ Sanahal (25) was involved in the alleged kidnapping of three youth from neighbouring localities for recruiting them in militant organizations.
This information came to light through one S Vikash, son of S Madhumangol of Achanbigei, Imphal East district who was rescued by his uncle on October 12 before being taken away, said the people of Khabam Maning Leikai.
According to the people of Khabam Maning Leikai, one T.Mocha of Thoubal Khetri Leikai, presently staying as a tenant at the house of Inaocha, was picked up by people of Heingang, a neighboring locality ofKhabam, on the night of October 14.Mocha revealed that his landlord's son Puno came to him on the night of October 11 and forced him at gun point to take him to the house of his friend, T Kishan and forced Mocha to call him out on some pretext.
It may be mentioned here that W Puno was involved in a similar case of forcibly recruiting two youth a year back, one of whom was able to escape from the camp of the militants after many months.
On the morning of October 12, W Puno, T Mocha and three other youth got into a white Maruti car in front of the western gate of Kangla in Imphal and headed towards Iroisemba, Imphal West district, said the people of Khabam.
On reaching Iroisemba, the other three youth were asked to step down from the car whereas T Mocha was asked to remain in the car at gun point by W Puno, and the car dropped T Mocha again in front of the western gate of Kangla, according to the statement given to the people of Khabam by Mocha, who is now in the custody of the police.
The identities of the three youth who were taken away by Puno are T Kishan, about 15/16 years old, son of Thambou, who is studying in Class IX, of Heingang Awang Leikai; P Mocha @ Dayananda (15), son of P Sarat of Achanbigei; and Th.Dinesh @ Nanao (16), of Achanbigei, who is studying in Class X .
Till now the three youth and Puno is missing, there was nothing news from their sons, added the family members of Puno.
