Screening of cadres of KCP(MC)-Lallumba faction has started today in regard to the proposed en-masse surrender of the cadres of the party to the authority, even though formal tripartite agreement is yet to be signed.
The screening was conducted at the ground of the 1st Bn Manipur Rifles today, a highly reliable official source said.
Mention may be made that leaders of the KCP (MC)-Lallumba (Hitendra) group in a tripartite talk with the Central and State government representatives on January 8 agreed to have its cadres surrender en-masse to the government and enjoy the rehabilitation package offered by both governments.
The tripartite talk�Central government, State government and KCP (MC) Lallumba was held at the banquet hall of the 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles, Imphal.
The meeting was attended by the Director of MHA-NE-1, Dr MC Meghanadhan as Central government representative and Manipur government was represented by additional Chief Secretary, PC Lawmkunga and IGP (Intelligence), LM Khoute, IPS.
Among others, leaders of KCP (MC) Lallumba agreed with the payment of Rs 4000 per month for each of the registered cadres of the KCP(MC) group surrendered to the government, put them up at the rehabilitation centre for surrendered ex-UGs being set up at Jiribam sub-division by the state government.
Today, screening of 160 cadres of the group was conducted, the source said.
Officials of the parties who took part in the earlier tripartite talks attended today's screening, the source added.
It is also pertinent to mention that the recently concluded tripartite talk had agreed to hold another round of talks in February after the screening of cadres of the group was completed.
The group is maintaining ceasefire with the government forces since the start of the negotiation in November 2008.At the fifth round of the talks held at the banquet hall of the 1st Manipur Rifles on January 8 in which the group agreed in principal the en-masse surrender of their cadres.
