Eight UG cadres arrested from all over

Imphal, November 20 2011: A combined team of Thoubal Police Commandos and personnel of 15 Assam Rifles apprehended one cadre of the proscribed UNLF during a search operation at Wangjing Bazar at around 1.30 am yesterday.

Identifying the arrested UNLF cadre as Khundongbam Ibosana Singh alias FM alias Udaba (24) s/o Kh Nganba Singh of Heirok Part-III, Lam Mari Phangba, Additional SP (Law & Order) of Thoubal Worngam Ningshen informed that one 9 mm pistol loaded with four live rounds of 9 mm ammunition and two hand grenades with detonators were recovered from the possession of the arrested cadre.

Act has been registered at Thoubal Police Station for further investigation, the police officer conveyed.

Meanwhile, Imphal East District Police Commandos reportedly apprehended one UNLF cadre identified as Khoirom Ibungochouba (35) s/o Kh Biren Singh of Keirao Lairembi Leikai from Keirao at around 8 am on November 17 .

According to a statement issued by SP, Imphal East, on verification, Ibungochouba disclosed that he joined UNLF in 2001 through one Tombi of his locality and he was involved in recruiting young boys and girls for UNLF as well as in transporting arms and ammunition of the outfit.

On the other hand, acting on credible information, a combined team of Imphal West district police commandos and personnel of 28 Assam Rifles arrested two active members of the outlawed PREPAK (PRO) from Sagolband Moirang Leirak crossing at around 11.45 am on November 18 .

In a statement, Senior SP of Imphal West District identified the arrested cadres as Kangabam Ibochouba alias Grami alias Lamyanba Meitei (29) s/o K Kaka Meitei of Kwakeithel Haochambi Leikai, Army no.42965 of 41st batch and S/S Corporal Khuraijam Bobby alias BK Singh (33) s/o late Kh Angoucha Singh of Tera Sapam Leirak, Army no.26669 of 26th batch.

The SSP informed that on spot verification, Khuraijam Bobby disclosed that he joined the outfit through one Irei of Uripok in 2007 and has been working under the command of S/S Capt Isingchaoba of PREPAK (PRO).

Furthermore, he was assigned to extort money from various shop-keepers, businessmen, agents of Government, etc for party fund.

While Kangabam Ibochouba disclosed that he joined the outfit through Khuraijam Bobby, the SSP added.

In the meantime, troops of 22 Grenadiers of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR (S) have also reportedly arrested on PREPAK cadre during an operation launched in general area of New Changpol of Chandel district on November 17 .

According to a statement issued by PRO Assam Rifles, the apprehendee has been identified as No.002 SS L/Cpl Khangembam Ingo Singh alias Kan (38) s/o Kh Tomba Singh of Kongjeng Leikai, Imphal, One 99 pistol with magazine, 3 live rounds and one kg of explosives were recovered from the apprehendee.

Discovering similar movement of UG cadres in general area of Wabagai Yangbi Manam of Thoubal district, troops of 27 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (S) also launched operation today and apprehended one KYKL cadre identified as No.5303 Noren Anand Singh alias Bobo alias Hudingba s/o late Inougcha Singh of Wabagai Yangbi Manan.

In yet another incident, troops of 31 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR (S) launched operation in general area of Khudengthabi of Chandel district and apprehended one UNLF cadre yesterday.

Identifying the arrested cadre as Indra Kumar Singh (27) s/o Manmem Singh of Mayang Imphal, the PRO informed that one laptop and Indian currency amounting Rs 760 were recovered from the possession of the apprehendee.

Later, troops of 31 Assam Rifles apprehended two Myanmarese Nationals from Khudengthabi area yesterday.

The two Myanmarese Nationals identified as Ataulla (15) s/o late Mohammed and Mamum Rashid (25) s/o Kalumiya, both residents of Yangoon, Myanmar, have been subsequently handed over to Moreh Police Station, the PRO added.
