Imphal, November 20 2011:
Although Union Home Minister P Chidambaram has denied offering Supra State Body for Nagas to NSCN-IM and rejected the news report published by the Seven Sisters Post as baseless, BJP has asserted that the Home Minister's clarification cannot remove the sense of apprehension felt by the people of Manipur.
Speaking to media persons at their office today, BJP vice-president Prof Tiken maintained that clarification made by the Union Home Minister and the UPA Chairperson on the news report about the Supra State body was not convincing.
Instead of clarifying indirectly through Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, Home Minister P Chidambaram should either clarify himself or through his spokesperson if the Centre did not make any offer for Supra State body to NSCN-IM, Prof Tiken demanded.
Only then, people's apprehension and anxiety can be removed, he added.
The issue cannot be simply brushed aside because the Union Home Minister has denied the issue.
The Union Home Minister should clarify directly to the people so that all concerned are satisfied, he asserted.
