State records eight deaths, 785 new cases

Imphal, June 15 2021:
While the state witnessed a dip in new death cases on Tuesday as government bulletins reported only eight fatalities as compared to 16 on Monday, the number of new infection cases spiked.
The state reported 785 new positive cases out of 8074 samples tested in the last 24 hours, thus recording a positivity rate of 9.72 per cent, which is 1.01 per cent higher than that of Monday.
The last 24 hours also recorded 476 recoveries and the active caseload once again rose to 8744 which include 2940 in home isolation and 5804 undergoing treatment in healthcare facilities including district hospitals and Covid Care Centres.
So far, the state has recorded 32908 positive cases and 643 death cases during the current year.
Meanwhile, 10,345 new cases and 191 fatalities have been reported during the current month and the last seven days saw addition of 4520 new cases and 90 fatalities.
The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported eight (7 male & 1 female) Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours.
The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (4), Imphal East (1), Kakching (1), Kangpokpi (1) and Chandel (1) .

Three died at JNIMS, two at RIMS, and one each at Raj Medicity, DH Churachandpur and PHC Kangpokpi.
The cumulative number of deaths is 998 .
Three of the eight victims were below 50 years of age.
Two victims died within 24 hours of reaching hospital and two did not have any co-morbid conditions.
According to official reports, the 785 new cases included 772 people (408 male & 364 female) from among the general population and 13 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).
Their samples were tested at RIMS (32), JNIMS (13), District Hospitals (500) and other testing centres (240) .
The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (114), Imphal West (309), Thoubal (62), Bishnupur (62), Kakching (52), Ukhrul (20), Churachandpur (65), Chandel (14), Senapati (11), Tamenglong (22), Tengnoupal (1), Kangpokpi (2), Jiribam (34) and Noney (4) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The 476 patients discharged in the last 24 hours included 309 from home isolation, 20 from RIMS, 10 from JNIMS and the rest 137 from other Covid care facilities.
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 61,096 (general population - 57,306 and CAPF personnel - 3,790).Number of recovered cases is 51,354 (general population - 47,593 and CAPF personnel - 3,761) and number of active cases is 8,744 (general population - 8,720 and CAPF personnel - 24).The recovery rate is 84.05 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 1621 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 441 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
District Hospitals and government institutions have 369D and 76B filled cylinders.
The district and sub-division wise stock position is Bishnupur (65D,2B), Chandel (31D,7B), Churachandpur (71D,0B), Senapati (32D,0B), Thoubal (68D,19B) Ukhrul (22D,5B), Tamenglong (37D,17B), Moreh (23D,5B) Kamjong (3D,1B), Kangpokpi (4D,0B), Kakching (5D,18B), Noney (2D,0B) and Pherzawl (6D,2B) As of Monday, 4,72,857 individuals have been administered Covid-19 vaccine shots and the figure includes 81,736 persons who have received their second jab.
Meanwhile, 55 new positive cases have been detected in Kakching district on Tuesday.
One case was detected at Ema Hospital, nine at Jivan Hospital and 45 at government RAT Centre.
One is from Chandel district and the remaining 54 are residents of Kakching district.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (21,694), Imphal East (13,932), Thoubal (4907), Churachandpur (4697), Kangpokpi (1560), Tamenglong (1954), Bishnupur (3586), Senapati (1334), Ukhrul (1254), Kakching (2764), Chandel (1059), Noney (541), Tengnoupal (605), Jiribam (686), Kamjong (428), and Pherzawl (95).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (372), Imphal East (263), Thoubal (95), Churachandpur (79), Kangpokpi (24), Tamenglong (8), Bishnupur (64), Senapati (4), Ukhrul (14), Kakching (49), Chandel (14), Noney (2), Tengnoupal (4), Jiribam (3), Kamjong (3), and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.
The state health authority is not willing to provide district-specific case status despite repeated request from media.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 19,689 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 21,263 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 2,66,378 tests per million population against the national average of 2,73,800 TPM.
Case fatality rate climbed down to 1.63 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 8074 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 9.72 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 7.39 per cent.
