Slight increase in daily positivity rate as 687 new cases detected from 7820 samples

Imphal, June 11 2021: After experiencing gradual decline in number of casualties in the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic, Friday witnessed a sudden spike with 19 fatalities, which is the highest after 23 fatalities reported on May 19 .

Meanwhile, a slight surge in daily positivity rate was recorded on Friday as government bulletins reported 687 new positive cases out of 7820 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

The positivity rate on Friday was 8.79 per cent against 8.10 per cent on Thursday.

However, the rate remains below 10 for four consecutive days since Tuesday.

The active caseload has reduced to 8922 out of which 3853 are recuperating in home isolation and the remaining 5107 are undergoing treatment in healthcare facilities including district hospitals and Covid Care Centres.

As per report, 387 patients are on oxygen support and 38 are on ventilators till Friday night.

However, the report does not include number of patients on oxygen support and ventilators for JNIMS and I-Land Hospital Canchipur.

The last seven days saw addition of 5078 new cases and 81 fatalities while 8017 new cases and 137 fatalities have been reported during the current month.

Since the beginning of the current year, the state has recorded 30,580 positive cases and 589 death cases.

State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee has reported 19 Covid-19 deaths (15 male & 4 female) in the last 24 hours.

The district wise fatality counts are Imphal West (7), Imphal East (3), Thoubal (3), Bishnupur (1), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (1) and Churachandpur (3).Five patients died at Shija Hospitals, three each at RIMS, JNIMS & DH Churachandpur, two at Raj Medicity, and one each at Babina, DH Ukhrul & DH Bishnupur.

The cumulative number of deaths is 944.Out of the 19 fatalities 10 victims were in the age group of 60 years and below, which included a 34-year-old male, a 40-year-old male & a 43-year-old male.

Six did not have any comorbid conditions.

Five died within 24 hours of admission in hospital and one under 48 hours.

According to official reports, the 687 new cases included 686 people (360 male & 326 female) from among the general population and one Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) jawan, whose samples were tested at RIMS (36), JNIMS (4), District Hospitals (438) and other testing centres (209) .

The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (156), Imphal West (230), Thoubal (59), Bishnupur (58), Kakching (63), Ukhrul (1), Churachandpur (64), Chandel ((4), Senapati (6), Tamenglong 2), Tengnoupal (9), Kangpokpi 11), Kamjong (1), Pherzawl (9), Jiribam (9) and Noney (4).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

In the last 24 hours, 643 patients were discharged and 464 are from home isolation, 15 RIMS, 9 from JNIMS and 155 from Covid care facilities.

On the other hand, earlier discharge of 462 individuals was mentioned only on Friday, subsequently making the total number of recoveries in the last 24 hours to 1105.The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 58,768 (general population - 55,000 and CAPF personnel - 3,768).Number of recovered cases is 48,902 (general population - 45,141 and CAPF personnel - 3,761) and number of active cases is 8,922 (general population - 8,920 and CAPF personnel - 2).The recovery rate is 83.21 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1622 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 541 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

District Hospitals and government institutions have 386D and 79B filled cylinders while the dis- trict/sub-division wise stock position is Bishnupur (65D,7B), Chandel (32D,7B), Chura- chandpur (75D,0B), Senapati (32D,0B), Thoubal (66D,20B), Ukhrul (18D,0B), Tamenglong (21D,5B), Jiribam (35D,10B), Moreh (12D,3B), Kamjong (3D,1B), Kangpokpi (5D,0B), Kakching (14D,24B), Noney (2D,0B) and Pherzawl (6D,2B) .

So far, 4,57,600 individuals have been vaccinated against Covid-19 and the number of people who have been administered the second dose is 81,343 as of Thursday.

Meanwhile, 21 new positive cases were detected in Kakching district on Friday.

Out of the new cases, 12 were detected at government RAT Centre, six at Jivan Hospital and three at Ema Hospital.

All of them are residents of Kakching district.

In Tengnoupal district, 11 positive cases out of 62 samples were detected on Thursday and Friday during RAT conducted at Sub-district Hospital, Moreh.

Five cases were detected on Thursday and six on Friday.

Three have been admitted at Covid isolation ward at the sub-district hospital and four at the CHIC located at Moreh College while the remaining four opted for home isolation.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (20,908), Imphal East (13,580), Thoubal (4639), Churachandpur (4487), Kangpokpi (1539), Tamenglong (1909), Bishnupur (3351), Senapati (1297), Ukhrul (1200), Kakching (2628), Chandel (980), Noney (536), Tengnoupal (583), Jiribam (612), Kamjong (428) and Pherzawl (91) .

Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (353), Imphal East (254), Thoubal (88), Churachandpur (74), Kangpokpi (23), Tamenglong (8), Bishnupur (58), Senapati (4), Ukhrul (13), Kakching (45), Chandel (13), Noney (2), Tengnoupal (4), Jiribam (2), Kamjong (3) and Pherzawl (0) .

However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 18,939 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 21,078 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 2,57,887 tests per million population against the national average of 2,68,707 TPM.

Case fatality rate rose to 1.61 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, 7820 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 8.79 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate further rises to 7.34 per cent.
