Imphal, October 09 2012:
The Iron Lady of Manipur, Irom Chanu Sharmila, who has been on an indefinite fast for almost 12 years now demanding repeal of the controversial Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958, has vowed not to receive any award unless the Act is repealed.
Sharmila stated this to mediapersons while being brought out of the court of JMIC Imphal East Court at Lamphelpat today.
As she was about to be taken out, Sharmila requested the Court to spare her a few minutes to interact with the media, but was flatly denied.
Infuriated over the decision of the Court, Sharmila walked out of the court without signing related documents.
According to an order passed by Y Lother, JMIC Imphal East, Sharmila has to reappear before the Court on October 20 .

Talking to media persons, Sharmila said that since the State Government has given no heed to her struggle, there would be no point in accepting reward given to her in future and her stand would remain binding so long as the Act is not repealed altogether.
Meanwhile, the Just Peace Foundation has questioned the motive of the Patiala House Court, New Delhi over summoning Sharmila to appear before the court on October 17 .
However, according to reports reaching Hueiyen Lanpao, the summon order of the Patiala High Court has not been given due approval by the JMIC, Imphal East Court.
