Imphal, July 08 2019:
A one day political conference was organised by Thangmeiband Local Council, CPI at the residence of Khangembam Shamungou in Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai yesterday.
Prior to the political conference, a tree plantation drive was carried out at Irawat Square, Thangmeiband Lilasingkhongnangkhong.
Manipur State Council CPI State Secretary L Sotinkumar said that, the political conference was organised to bringing forth a new version of Communist Party.
A series of political conference will be organised at different parts of the State, he added.
Sotinkumar alleged that the political leaders of the State, despite of giving focus on the prevailing issues of the State including the cause of scanty rainfall, farmers' grievances and sky high prices on essential commodities, are busy figuring out which offfice to hold and how to loot State's resources.
He went on to state that the grievances of the public of Manipur will ease a lot if the State Government puts genuine efforts in implementing the Food Security Act and make the rice available at subsidised rate of Rs 3 per Kg .
However, the irony is that the rice is available at Rs 30 per Kg instead of Rs 3, he added.
Similar to black marketing ganja or tobacco products, some people are plundering these items under the Food Security Act and now the public are facing the heat, remarked Sotinkumar.
Alleging that none of the dam in Manipur has turned out to be a success, he maintained that the Dolaithabi dam inaugurated by the Prime Minister is lying defunct till now.
Concerning the matter of the recent overdraft, CPI has questioned where the huge amount of money has been spent, especially when the election code of conduct was imposed.
He remarked that Communist Party Manipur is a peaceful and grounded party and all the member of the party should become an entitled Marxist.
CPI will be with the people of the State at every step of the way and fight every social issues, he said.
Members of the party conducted a social service and planted tree saplings at Irawat Square.
Notably, Irawat Square was inaugurated by CM N Biren on September 30 last year in which the Chief Minister had made the announcement to erect a bust/statue of Irawat before September 30, 2019 at Irawat Square.
However, no action is visible till date, he added.
Sotinkumar urged the Government to fulfil its promise before September 30.Memorial sites of Jananeta Irawat have been set up at Assam, Tripura, Bangladesh and Myanmar but the level of ignorance of the State Government to even erect a statue at the very place where the Jananeta was born is unfortunate, remarked Sotinkumar.
Manipur State Council CPI members S Manglem, L Arunkumar, S Chandramani along with MSC, CPI assistant secretary Kh Surchand and M Joykumar attended the conference among others.
