In
mysterious circumstances, a young man who worked as a stenographer in District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), was found dead this morning at Kanglatongbi under Sekmai Police Station.
According to police, the body of Thounaojam Basu dev (38) s/o Biramangol of Sagolband Tera Loukham Leirak was found at around 11.30 am near the Pangaltabi Torongtabi canal of Kanglatongbi.
A plastic bottle of Fanta but containing some liquid that smells of insecticide, a polythene bag of locally brewed wine, one empty glass, cigarette and match boxes, one note book and a pen were recovered near the body which showed no sign of any injuries on it.
Police said that he may have died either from consuming the pesticide or from lying there all alone drunk.
But the exact cause will be known only after receiving the re port of the post-mortem examination.
Sekmai police have taken up a case of U/D in this con nection.
Basudev was working as a stenographer in the office of Imphal West Zilla Parishad.
He had re portedly gone out from home on Monday telling that family members that he was going to meet a friend at Sekmai.
The deceased left behind his wife and two children, a daughter and a son.
The body has been handed over to his family members after post-mortem examination at RIMS.
Meanwhile, Heingang police said that the body of unidentified youth who was found dead after being knocked down by an un known vehicle in he early morning of July 25 at Pangei Bazar along Imphal-Saikul road would be disposed off if no one come to claim the same by 1 pm tomorrow.
The body is still lying in the mor tuary of RIMS.
It is said the victim was around 25 years of age, appears to non-local with dark complexion, lean body and around 5 feet 5 inches tall.
He was found wearing a blue colour T-short and blue-black jean pant.
