With most of the crops destroyed by rodents whose multiplied in the aftermath of the bamboo flowering phenomenon, Tamei and Tousem sub-divisions are facing acute shortage of food grains, informed a press release issued by the Village Authority Chairman Council, Tousem sub-division.
On the complaint of the affected villagers to local MLA Awangbou Newmai who further intimated the matter to the Chief Minister, the latter reportedly recommended for release of 1000 quintals of rice for the two sub-divisions.
But the Department has so far released only 25 quintals of rice to more than 100 villages.
Highlighting the current plight of the villagers residing in the backward sub-divisions of Tamei and Tousem, the Council sought immediate attention of the Government to address the plight.
