Uripok Apunba Lup calls for strong measures against COVID-19 pandemic

In view of the prevailing grim situation of the second wave of Covid pandemic in the State, members of Uripok Apunba Lup (UAL), a confederation of Clubs in Uripok Assembly Constituency will be initiating some strict measures to curb the further spread of the virus.
In a press release, UAL enlisted the measures to be implemented which includes clearing up the road side vendors in Nagamapal and on both sides of Uripok Kangchup Road from flyover to Naoremthong as the vendors and buyers are not adhering to Covid SOPs laid down by the Government.
The State level COVID-19 organisations should be reactivated without delay as the nominated medical and police officers should be readily available for timely assistance.
Expressing concern in the delay of announcement of containment zones, details of infected persons and those in quarantine, it stressed on the need to ensure timely and accurate announcement by the administration to prevent further spread.
Meanwhile the local clubs should initiate to isolate affected locality/family and to ensure all members of the affected household are tested.
UAL urged for a mass vaccination drive exclusively for the Uripok A/C due to the unprecedented spread of COVID-19 in the constituency with multiple fatal cases recently.
Also all forms of assistance by any individual/ organization for the people in the containment zone should be channelized through the local clubs.
And a firm directive regarding cremation of COVID-19 positive bodies need to be promulgated by the administration to avoid any misunderstanding in the final hour.
UAL apprised the MLA of Uripok A/C and deputy CM Yumnam Joykumar of the above measures to be initiated and he assured of all possible assistance in curbing the COVID-19 pandemic.
