Acknowledging the efforts of the poor boy despite of his background, Chief Minister N Biren Singh donated Rs 2 lakh in recognition of Johnson's achievement and as an act of motivation for the poor widow's son.
KhSO-GHQ Information and Publicity secretary, T Khongsai said: "Even after two years, we still remember the generosity and help rendered by our Chief Minister N Biren Singh to Johnson Khongsai and his family.
This will be cherished forever".
He continued that the Government of Manipur under the 'people's Chief Minister N Biren Singh' had provided Johnson and his family with a housing scheme and financial assistance for his further studies.
As advised by Chief Minister, Rs 1 lakh was spent on Johnson's house construction and another Rs 1 lakh was kept in fixed deposited in a joint account by the KhSO.
Upon maturity, the fixed deposited amount was withdrawn and handed over to Johnson Khongsai and his family in the presence of KhSO-GHQ, KhSO CCpur district and Khongsai Inpi CCpur on July 22 .
"Had our Chief Minister was not there to help poor Johnson, his determination and hard work might have been buried by poverty and he might have ended his study" said the student body while lauding and appreciating the timely intervention and aid of Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
