Lamka, August 19 2013:
Barely a month after AR personnel raided the residence of ZRO President at New Lamka, personnel of the para-military forces have on Saturday night raided the residence of ZRA's town area second-in-command drawing a stern criticism from the SoO group.
ZRO's statement issued by its I&PR Director today alleged that an AR team commanded by Maj Vikash Kundu has arrested one ZRA cadre during the raid along with two AK-56 rifles, eight Hand-grenades, 250 ammunitions and 5 Magazines.
It further alleged, 'Major Vikash Kundu and his cohorts looted more than Rs 1.5 lakh in cash, 1 mobile handset, 1 digital camera, 1 two-cell torch battery, 1 Khukri before forcing the parents of the second-in-command of town to sign a blank paper at gun-point' .
Branding the raiding party as looters, the statement also accused them of retreating with 150 grams of Heroine, 500 strips of SP, 480 strips of RP tablets, which it claimed, were seized by the ZRA from drug peddlers awaiting disposal.
The statement recalled the kidnapping of VA Chairman of Tuithapi on August 14 night and accused the AR of putting no efforts to nab the kidnappers.
If they were serious enough to nab the culprits, they would have arrested them by that night itself, it said.
The ZRO further stated that it is therefore natural to ask the 46Bn AR if they were colluding with the kidnappers.
'Maj Vikash Kundu is too busy to keep at bay some groups who failed to sign SoO but is available 24x7 to hunt groups under SoO,' it added.
'Groups under SoO pact have become easy prey and punching bag for the security forces.
In fact, the letter and spirit of SoO has been reduced to a beast of burden for SoO signatories.' The ZRO also charged the AR of flouting the laws of the land by failing to deposit the arrested cadre or the weapons and other materials seized to the nearest police station within 24 hours of the arrest.
'In fact they are yet to be deposited' .
