Stage set for Imphal Book Fair

Series of events like poets meet (humorous poems), State level symposium on archaeology, museum, archives and library, meet shumang leela artists, pena and folk, khunung eshei and Khongjom parva singers, meet authors, children spot painting competition, meet film artists etc are lined up for the ten-day long 23rd Imphal Book Fair slated to begin from Dec 15 at THAU ground, Imphal.
Addressing media persons in connection with the event today at State Central Library office, Chief Librarian E Latakishwar Singh said that the Imphal Book Fair would be jointly organised by State Central Library, Imphal and Raja Ram Mohan Roy Library Foundation, Kolkata.
A total of 45 book firms including firms from outside would take part in the fair.
Guwahati based firm like Nivedita, Kamakhya agency, National library and Delhi based Sunmark, Arkansa, Supriya, Nair, Ekata, Forward book agency would take part.
Besides, Kolkata based Bookline, Seven Sisters, Sahitya Academy would also take part in the fair, he said.
Education Minister M Okendro would inaugurate the fair on Dec 15 .
Latakishwar Singh further appealed to all concerned not to impose bandh or blockade during the book fair.
