Siblings kidnapping IMC candidate held

Imphal, May 09 2011:
An intending candidate of the IMC election was kidnapped by some unknown persons from his way to file his nomination paper at Imphal West DC office, Lamphel today, but released later at Lamshang area.
Reports said that some unknown persons abducted Nameirakpam Chitaranjan of Uripok Khoisnam Leikai who was going to file his candidature for contesting the IMC election from ward no.6 today around 12.30 pm.
He was taken away from in front of CRPF post at Lamphel by the abductors who came on an auto-rickshaw.
A team of Imphal west police who swung into action immediately conducted a search at Langol area to find out the kidnapped person.
However, kidnappers released the intending candidate at Lamshang area around 2.30 pm.
Lamphel police who rushed to the spot on getting the information, took back the person and allowed him to file his nomination paper.
When asked to the person, police came to know that he was kidnapped by some person led by the elder brother of Joy, who also filed his candidature to contest the election from the same ward with Chitaranjan.
In the followed up action, police seized the auto-rickshaw used in the kidnapping from in front of RIMS hospital.
Joy, his elder brother Arun and younger brother Manao were also arrested by the police, a police report said.
