Thoubal, March 06 2016:
The People for Animals, Manipur has urged all the people of the
State and the authority concerned to collectively work in pony pres-
ervation.
The need to preserve Manipuri pony was highlighted by
Minister Govindas Konthoujam during the recent Assembly
session which PFA, Manipur considers is the the need of the
hour, said L Biswajit Meitei, managing trustee of PFA,
Manipur.
Despite the fund allotted for pony preservation every month,
one can still witness abandoned, injured and malnourished
ponies along the waysides and that obviously raises a question
if the allotted sum of money is being rightfully used or not,
PFA, Manipur said.
The State Government along with the people of the State
have been trying to preserve the Sangai, the endangered spe-
cies of Brow Antlered.
Manipuri pony which has contributed
to the historical achievements of the State should also be given
equal emphasis, added PFA, Manipur.
