Imphal, July 01, 2012:
People of Wangoo and its surrounding areas are faced with predica-ments as the bridge over the Manipur River that connects Wangoo Ahallup and Wangoo Tera Lupa Marup remains collapsed since December last year.
The bridge known as Wangoo Thongjao links Wan-goo Ahallup and Wangoo Te ra Lupa Marup villages.
With no other means left, the villagers used boat to cross the river, making the communication between the villagers more hard.
According to local residents, an atte mpt was made to construct suspension bridge across the river some four months back.
But the same was ceased after working for about three/four days.
Loitongbam Netra of Wa-ngooTera Awang Leikai said the bridge was an important life-line for the surrounding villagers.
The bridge was used both by farmers, students and traders of the area.
Though farming and scho-oling activities continued ev en after the collapse of the bridge, the people have to walk extra miles to reach their respective destination.
As such, the villagers urged the Government authority to address their grievances at the earliest.
