Imphal, February 26 2023:
Federal Students' Organisation, Kangleipak (FESOK) has strongly condemned yesterday's incident whereby students of Azar Higher Secondary appearing for Class XII examination at ACME Higher Secondary School, Yairipok vandalized school property and carried out stone-pelting.
In a press release, FESOK stated that they communicated with teachers of ACME Higher Secondary School to unearth the cause of the alleged acts of aggression.
They were informed that towards the end of the exam, a student reportedly rushed out of the classroom and attempted to tear their answer script while some other students allegedly began vandalizing the desks and benches, pelting stones within the school campus and causing injury to numerous innocent students and causing damage to the vehicles of teachers.
Reportedly, this ruckus began because the school authority conducted the COHSEM examination very strictly, the statement said.
FESOK called this incident a matter of embarrassment for the whole society.
It added that similar incidents may occur in the future at other exam centres if COHSEM does not take up appropriate steps against the responsible students to deter such acts.
As such, FESOK has appealed to the State administration as well as COHSEM to take up necessary action in this regard and called for the support and cooperation of the public to ensure that examinations are conducted with adherence to rules and regulations and without resorting to unfair means.
