The Co-ordinating Body, Khurai, has strongly condemned UNC's indefinite economic blockade on National Highways and the subsequent counter blockade at various places.
The Co-ordinating Body spokesperson Thoidingjam Bon, in a press meet held at Khurai Thoidingjam Lairembi Shanglen today said various forms of protest against the UNC's indefinite economic blockade have been staged in the State.
The Manipur bandh on December 17 called by Khwairamband women vendors, mass burning of vehicles by counter economic blockade supporters at Khurai on December 18, to cite a few.
On reports that some of the passengers travelling to Ukhrul were assaulted during the December 18 incident, Bon clarified that the co-ordinating body escorted some of the Ukhrul bound people till Yaingangpokpi the same day.
The 350 people who were stranded at Ima Chingjoibi Shanglen was provided protection by the local Meira paibis.
Those that sustained injury on the were taken to JNIMS hospital by the meira paibis.
She has urged all the organisations/groups not to fabricate false story based on a third hand report.
"The Co-ordinating body has resolved not to plead to the UNC to lift the blockade.
We leave the task to the State and the Central Government", Bon stated.
The body designs to hold a peace rally from Lamlong shortly, Bon said while appealing to the State Government to lift the curfew imposed at Lamlong area in the larger interest of the people.
