Imphal, January 23 2013:
A sit-in-demonstration was staged at Takyel Kolom Leikai in Imphal West district today to protest the controversial death of one Tongbram Sunil Meitei (31) s/o (L) T Tolngou of the said Leikai.
According to K Ranjit Singh, convenor of the JAC formed in connection with the death of Sunil Meitei, the Takyel Kolom Leikai carpenter went out of home in an Activa scooter at around 10 am of January 21 and carried Rs 5000 to purchase adhesive from Imphal market.
Quoting family members, Ranjit disclosed that at around 2 pm the same day Sunil telephoned home asking that someone get him the extra key as his original one has been snatched by one Yaima of Sagolband Moirang Leirak.
Even though a family member handed the extra key to Sunil, the latter did not show up at home till late afternoon before information was conveyed by the police at around 5 pm about recovering Sunil's lifeless corpse from a shrubby area of Nambul River bank near Moirang Leirak, maintained the JAC convenor.
Expressing that the victim's families are clueless as to who or why Sunil was killed and is unaware of Sunil having enmity with anyone, Ranjit said neither the scooter nor the Rs 5000 cash possessed by Sunil could be traced till date.
On behalf of the JAC, he demanded that the Government order investigation to find the culprit(s) involved in the murder of Sunil and to extend all possible assistance to the victim's family.
