Workers Education Day observed

Central Board for Workers Education (CBWE) observed the 55th Workers Education Day under the theme, 'Workers Education for Inclusive Development and Reducing Socio-economic Imbalance' at its regional office at Palace Compound today.
CBWE Regional Director MN Salam said that CBWE was established under Union Ministry of Labour and Employment on September 16, 1958.It has been conducting various training programmes for workers belonging to organised sector, un-organised sector and rural sector in time with its declared objectives, he added.
Saying that the board has given training to more than 1,12,900 workers who are mostly at the age group of 18 to 46 years so far, MN Salam said that its zonal office is located at Guwahati.
He further said that Regional Office, Imphal is working for the welfare of the workers of Nagaland, Tripura, Manipur
and Assam.
Saying that the board has its national headquarters at Nagpur (Maharashtra), MN Salam added that CBWE has its East Zone office at Kolkata, North Zone office at New Delhi, South Zone office at Chennai, NE Zone office at Guwahati and Central Zone office at Bhopal.
Manipur Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker MK Preshow Shimray, who is also the Chairman of RAC, CBWE and President of INTUC (MB), graced the occasion as chief guest.
Manipur State Panchayat Parishad Chief Advisor Prof N Mohendro attended the function as president.
CBWE former Regional Director KK Singh was the special guest while HMS (MS) President Manihar Goswami, INTUC (MB) Secretary Yumnam Ranapratap, INTUC (MSC) General Secretary L Sotinkumar and BMS National Secretary N Tomba were the guests of honour of the function.
