Thoubal, May 24 2017:
A
public meeting to deliberate on
the topic 'Likely impact on
integrity of Manipur due to the
ongoing dialogue between the
Government of India and the
NSCN (IM)' was held at the
multi-purpose hall of Yairipok
Laimanai in Imphal East today.
General secretary of UCM
Y Dhiren, AMSU president
Manjit Sarangthem, Human
Rights Initiative, Manipur
president Y Ratan, UPF vice
president Wareppa Sekend
and Federation Clubs of
Yairipok advisor Ibotombi Khumancha attended the meeting as presidium
members.
All the leaders present at the meeting questioned why
the Framework Agreement signed between India and the NSCN
(IM) in 2015 is being kept under such a veil of secrecy.
Being a democracy everyone has the right to know the
works taken up by the Government for the people, opined the
public leaders.
The secrecy under which the Agreement has been kept has
sown the seeds of suspicion that an agenda may be there to
divide the State.
The people of Manipur will unitedly stand against any
agenda to divide the State along ethnic lines, said the public
leaders.
