NCW member Soso Shaiza felicitated

The newly nominated member of National Commission for Women (NCW), Soso Shaiza was given rousing reception in a felicitation function organized by Tangkhul Women Community at three different places of Ukhrul town, today.
Soso Shaiza is a daughter-in-law of former CM of Manipur (L) Yangmaso Shaiza and is popularly known as Madam Soso by the people of Ukhrul for her humanitarian services.
She is given charge to look after the affairs of women of North East States, Talengana, Andhra Pradesh and NRI.
Speaking about empowering women through capacity building and skill development programme, timely intervention of crime against women and domestic violence for marginalized section, Soso Shaiza highlighted the roles and responsibilities of NCW during the felicitation programme.

She maintained that nearly 300 complaints are received daily after she assumed office in NCW and added that she received phone call from PMO on November 15 about her nomination to NCW.
She urged the public to support her so as to render quality services in order to improve the status of women in the country.
Grace Shatshang, president Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL) said that the nomination of Soso Shaiza in the women commission is indeed a pride of the State while adding that she is a woman of integrity, having a great quality to serve the people.
Saying that Tangkhul dialect is now recognised for CBSE syllabus through her efforts, Grace added that Soso is a recipient of educationist award and her achievement in education is recognised worldwide.
Appreciation speeches were also delivered by presidents of TNL, TNWL, TKS, HSL for her nomination in NCW.
It may be mentioned that Soso Shaiza is the fourth women from North East States to be appointed as a member of NCW.
Soso Shaiza was first accorded warm reception at her native locality, Tangrei, Ukhrul by Tangrei Community at LEAS School.
Later, Hunphun Shanao Long (HSL) and Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL) organised felicitation programme at Awontang Shimva hall and TNL hall, Ukhrul.
The felicitation programme was also attended by the leaders of Tangkhul social organizations, Church leaders, Headmen Association, ADC members, intellectuals and the town folks.
