Locals of Ghari Awang Leikai in Imphal west dismantled the house of the Sadokpam Romabanta charged with the killing of his wife, Sangeeta, who was found hanging in the front verandah of her house.
The house was pulled down following a decision of a public meeting held on Friday that resolved to excommunicate the family from the
locality forever.
Sadokpam Sangeeta was found hanging in a suspicion manner in the front verandah of her house on Friday morning at Ghari Awang Leikai.
The woman left behind three children, the youngest one among them being only one and half month old.
Locals suspect her husband Romabanta, a rifleman of the IRB later arrested by the police in connection with the incident of killing her first and then made it appear as if she killed herself by hanging.
Police arrested the man, the rifleman from his post yesterday after a case was registered against him.
Womenfolk of the locality also stormed the Lamphel Police Station this afternoon where he was detained insisting the police to take appropriate action under law and punish him accordingly.
Police personnel at the station convinced the group of angry women and assured them that appropriate action would be taken up against the man under law.
They also convinced the womenfolk to receive the dead body of the woman and performed her last rites.
