To commemorate the 175th anniversary of Assam Rifles, 17 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) inaugurated a Tailoring and Knitting Centre at Tuinem village on January 22.The Centre was constructed under OP Samaritan project for the year 2009-10 .
The Assam Rifles donated sewing, embroidery and knitting machines tables, chairs and a computer set for establishment of "Stitching and Knitting training Centre".
The CO of 17 Assam Rifles, called upon Mrs Ningshimla, the oldest women present in the gathering to inaugurate the function as a mark of respect to the village women folk.
On another occasion, 21 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector dedicated a toilet block to the people of Irengband village in Kakching block on January 23 .
The villagers appreciated the work done by 21 Assam Rifles in the area.
The construction of toilet block will go a long way in providing hygienic toilets facilities to the villagers of Irengband, said a press release issued by the PRO IGAR (South).
