COTA warns indefinite relay hunger strike from Feb 29

Irked by the failure of the State Government to fulfil its demand for implementing 7th Pay for Government school teachers, despite mounting protest by teachers from all parts of the State, Council Of Teachers' Association (COTA) has announced that it will launch an indefinite relay hunger strike from February 29.Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, COTA convenor Ch Shanta Kumar narrated that from February 2, teachers in both the hills and valley area have been staging sit in protests in front of their respective ZEO offices.
However, even to this day, the Government has turned a blind eye to the plight of the Government teachers.

Moreover, it is unfortunate that the college teachers have been ensure UGC 7th Pay structure while the teachers, from primary to higher secondary, have been left in the dust which is very unfortunate.
As such, COTA will launch an indefinite relay hunger strike from February 29 in front of ZEO Khoyathong, he announced, informing that from March 2 to 7, similar strike will be initiated in front of ZEO Porompat, Thoubal, Wangoi, Kakching, Ukhrul, Lilong, Senapati, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur and Bishnupur.
On the other hand, if any teacher or association attempts to come to an understanding with the authorities without the consent of COTA, they will have to bear all the resulting consequences, he cautioned.
