Like in other parts of the country, Manipur too celebrated the 116th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose with Department of Art and culture, and Indian National Army (INA) Advisory Committee, Moirang jointly hosting the birth anniversary at INA Martyrs' Memorial Complex, Moirang today.
A patriotic song competition on the theme 'Netaji & INA' and offering of floral tributes were the highlight of the celebration attended by Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh, Parliamentary Secretary for YAS & Tourism M Prithviraj Singh and Kumbi AC MLA S Bira Singh as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Highlighting that contribution of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in India's freedom movement would remain in history forever, Dr Ratankumar expressed that Indian citizens too need to have Netaji's sacrificial spirit and valour to protect the country's sovereignty.
At the end of the celebration, prizes were distributed to position winners of the patriotic song competition.
