Sit in protest staged

Bishnupur, August 21 2017:
Students of Ningthoukhong Higher Secondary School held a sit in protest in connection with the lack of sufficient teachers in the school, failure to get the required teachers and the overall lack of proper infrastructure .
Ningthoukhong Government High school, which was previously known as Special Category English Model School, has a total strength of 550 students with six lecturers and 13 graduate teachers .
The students asserted that, as per the norm of functioning a higher secondary school, the school should consist of 24 lecturers and 26 graduate teachers apart from the lab attendants, who are also not available at the moment .

There is only one Grade IV staff present at the school out of the sanctioned three post and the toilet for boys is also non existent .
Meanwhile, two teachers have been utilised today but only one has joined the school, they added .
Such disarray and instability in the functioning of the school has confused and angered the students, they asserted and added that if such system continues, many Government schools will gradually perish .
The Students Union of the school organised the protest demonstration .
Speaking to media persons, the secretary of the union stated that repeated request have been made to the State Government and the authority concerned to fulfil the requirements of the school and added that the school Principal has taken up all the formalities in notifying the authority concerned about the matter .
The union urged the State Government as well as the authority concerned to look into the inconveniences of the school and take necessary steps at the earliest in the larger interest of the students .
They further threatened to launch several forms of agitation if the demands are not fulfilled before August 25 .
Different slogans and placards were raised by the students highlighting the inadequacies of the institution.
