Lien Gangte resigns from JD-U

JD-U State unit general secretary Lien Gangte has resigned from the party purportedly under pressure from his supporters and the people of Henglep A/C.Speaking to media persons at Cafe Max hotel, New Checkon today, Lien Gangte said that he submitted a resignation letter to JD-U State unit president M Tombi yesterday.
Anguished by the failure of the successive MLAs of Henglep A/C to look into their grievances, people of the Assembly segment were exerting pressure on Lien Gangte to leave JD-U with a view to elect a new representative.
Informing that he has decided to work together with the people living in interior areas of Henglep A/C for their welfare, Lien Gangte said that he would consult the Henglep Area Development Committee before joining a new party.
Different issues which broke out in Churachandpur district were only exacerbated on account of the failure of public leaders to intervene and resolve the issues in time.
Henglep Area Development Committee members Mangboi Gangte and Pougam Maringmei said that they asked Lien Gangte to resign from JD-U in order to elect a new public leader who would look into the grievances of public and take up public welfare programmes sincerely.
