Imphal, July 17 2011:
Rajya Sabha MP and veteran politician Rishang Keishing today urged the people of Meetei community not to believe in the quit notice served by some crazy Nagas to the Meetei brethren.
He was attending the closing ceremony of the 1st State Level Taal Faangnaba organised by the Samurou Sangeet Natya Bidyalaya at Panthoibi Shanglen,
Naorem Chaprou.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Rishang Keishing said that Manipur is a beautiful state in which the hill and valley people have a long history of love and peaceful relationship.
He said that the Chin Kukis, the Nagas and the Meeteis are the three stands of a Yotshabee.
Nothing can disintegrate the territory and integrity of the state if the three communities stand united.
There were many communal ill feelings among the people of the different communities of the state in the past.
It is now high time for the people of the state including all revolutionaries to refrain from such communal ill feelings and unite for the welfare of the state.
Many of the hill people in the different districts have different opinion and views, let alone the differences between the valley and hill people.
Now is the time to give up ill feelings and disunity and go forward for a developed Manipur, he said.
Talking on the present scenario of politics in the state, he cautioned the innocent people to beware of various looters in the guise of social workers so as to come forward to get a strong foothold in politics in the state.
There are many such persons inside the Congress too and they need to be weeded out for a better and transparent politics.
Public leaders should consider the people as their own sons, daughters, fathers, mothers and family members instead of taking them as their source of earning money, Rishang said.
He urged the people to cast their votes to only those candidates who work for the welfare of the general public leaving behind their personal interests.
He also urged not to vote for any congressmen if the people think that they will not do their duties as public representatives in the interest of the welfare of the general public.
President, Sangeet Natya Bidyalaya Sagolsem Achouba, former Rajya Sabha MP Wahengbam Angou and Adakshya, Imphal West Zilla Parishad Soibam Subhachandra were among others who attended the closing function.
