Imphal, September 16 2013:
Refuting the news report that appeared in this paper under the headline, 'RIMS fund misuse under the scanner,' the RIMS authority has made certain clarification today.
A statement issued by the RIMS authority said that in response to an open tender floated for the purchase of dental chairs, six firms had submitted their bids.
Tender was done under two bid system - technical bid and price bid.
After assessment of the technical bids, bids of two firms only were considered by the Purchase Advisory Board since they met the technical specifications.
Prices and other details of the remaining firms are unknown to RIMS since the price bids were never opened.
The first meeting of the board was held on Feb 20, 2013.The Gnatus Innova Pad Plus model was quoted at Rs 3,85,000 per dental chair.
The other firm for Kavo model had quoted Rs 5,40,000.As the principal in-charge RR Singh was out of station, another professor of Dentistry was in his place on the day of the negotiation of rates on March 2, 2013 resulting in the reduction of Rs 10,000 per chair.
There might have been cheaper chairs which are not up to the technical specifications required by RIMS Dental College, it said.
