CCpur issues heat stroke alert

Even as the hill district of Churachandpur battered scorching heat in the past few days, health authorities have today issued an alert to the public advising them to avoid summer heat.
The District Family Welfare Office issued a public notice warning people about heat related illness such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Children who are active and playful are most prone and hard hit, it said advising adults to stay alert and prevent children from venturing out in the sun for too long.
It advised parents to give children enough fluids and not to let them play excessively.
It recommends loose outfits and advised adults not to leave children inside parked vehicles.
During a press meet, Chief Medical Officer Dr VC also warned the public of dysentery due to the exceedingly hot temperature which often exceeds 30 degrees Celsius.
The CMO has advised residents to avoid left over foods, raw fruits and other items which can cause food poisoning.
He also said Hepatitis A is also very much prevalent among children and hence it is desirable that they don't share their eatable items.
There is also a chance of mosquito borne disease outbreak due to the heat wave as the district had suffered similar situation in the previous years, he said.
