State toppers of AISSE 2019 felicitated

Imphal, May 14 2019: A felicitation ceremony for the toppers of All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSE) 2019, from the State, was organised at Classic Grande under the aegis of CBSE Affiliated Schools' Association today.

Director of Education, Manipur, Th Kirankumar, Deputy Secretary Manipur, Regina Hongray and president of CBSE Affiliated Schools' Association, Manipur as well as Principal of Manipur Public School, S Premabati Devi, attended the event as the chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.

A total of 9 students who clinched top three positions in AISSE 2019 in Science, Arts and Commerce stream, were awarded cash prizes, certificates and mementoes during the event.

In the said examination, Satyajit Thongbam, a student of UNACCO School (Khongman) clinched the top position for the State in the Science stream by scoring a total of 476 marks (95.2 percent) .

Pratik Agarwal of the same school clinched the 2nd position for the State by scoring a total of 475 marks (95 percent) .

On the other hand, by scoring 471 marks (94.2 percent), Rupachandra Maibam of Maria Montessori School, secured the 3rd position.

For the Arts stream, Lalminlian Zou of St Paul Institute, Churachandpur, scored a total of 483 marks (96.6 percent) and secured the 1st position for the State while Rajbans Huidrom of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Lamphelpat, scored 475 marks (95 percent) securing the 2nd position.

Binita Pukhrambam of Maria Montessori School scored 474 marks (94.8 percent) securing the 3rd position in the Arts stream.

On the other hand, in the Commerce stream, Liza Jain of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Lamphelpat, scored 483 marks (96.6 percent) and came in 1st while Supriya Kumari of Bhaktivedanta Mission Higher Secondary School scored 452 marks (90.4 percent) and came in 2nd.Ankit Sharma of the same school scored a total of 440 marks (88 percent) thus securing the 3rd position.

Speaking at the event, Th Kirankumar said that it is not a good attitude to let success or securing high marks get into one's head as it will not bode well for the future career.

Success and failures are a part of life and the most important thing is to try and overcome all the failures to improve oneself, he added.

The Education Director then recommended the students to refrain from pursuing any subjects which they are not fond of just due to pressure.

One can only succeed in life if one chooses their own path that they love and are guided by the right teachers, he said.

Kirankumar further said that medical and engineering are great courses and there is no harm in pursuing theses paths if one desires to do so.

However, there is nothing wrong in pursuing other filed if one has no interest in these two fields and this is better than just falling prey to peer pressure, he added.
