Fruit stalls at Moreh bazar inspected

Food Safety Department and Moreh Police jointly conducted inspection of fruits brought in from Myanmar at the border town today.
Roadside fruit vendors selling watermelon, mango, apple etc were inspected.
The inspection team collected samples of the fruits from the stalls and vendors for necessary tests at laboratory.
The joint team also visited hotels at Moreh bazar area and inspected the kitchens.
They also inspected license and registration of the food business operators.
Food Safety Department Moreh Officer L Kripyalini Devi, Food Safety Designated Officer L Subarta Singh, Moreh Police Additional SP Kh Robinsun, DSP CDO Thomas Thokchom and Moreh Police OC Letkhohao Vaiphei took part in the inspection.
The inspection was to ensure sale of hygienic fruits and thwart food adulteration, said officials.
As mercury level rises, many fruits including watermelons and mangoes are imported in large quantity from Myanmar every year.
