Training prog begins

A 30 day long training for gardeners began today at thew training hall of ICAR- KVK, Churachandpur, conveyed a press release issued by KVK, Churachandpur .
The programme was organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Churachandpur, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Pearsonmun village and sponsored by Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) .
Joint Director of ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Imphal Dr Narendra Prakash, Programme Coordinator, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Churachandpur Dr Niranjan Lal and Programme Coordinator, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tamenglong Dr PK Saraswat as dignitaries .
Speaking at the inauguration of the training programme, Dr Narendra Prakash emphasized that the Central Government has started skill development programme and projects for youth and added that Horticulture has the high potential to be explored for generating employment .
Orchard management, protected cultivation, processing, preservation and value addition are some of the areas which can be explored, he added .
Following this purpose, ICAR Imphal has taken the initiative, through KVK Churachandpur, to organise such training programme .
Meanwhile, Dr PK Saraswat emphasized the skill development of rural youths through capacity building, so that the youths become competent and conversant while using technologies .
Dr Niranjan Lal stated that the training schedule has been structured in a particular manner so that the participants get maximum exposure in all aspect of gardening in Horticulture .
Altogether 35 participants from Tamenglong, Churachandpur, Chandel and Tengnoupal will be participating in the training programme.
